According to <a href="https://www.transport.gov.scot/publication/scottish-transport-statistics-no-35-2016-edition/SCT01171871341-04/">the latest statistics</a>, there are over 2.5 million private and light goods vehicles registered in Scotland. 8,000 of these are registered with the lift share service. About a third or a percent of the total number of private vehicles.
