@gembo I only have very vague recollections of watching 'Potty Time' on telly as a kid in the 70s.

It's something I'd love to watch again now as an adult, though!

Mind you, my current anxiety dreams are potty enough....

@threefromleith, the other goon Michael Bentine had a whole show that was puppets fighting the First World War with cake. The exact premise of Michael Bentine's Potty Time.

First ever bike theft anxiety related dream last night - came back to bike to find only a totally stripped frame d-locked to the railings. Thankfully the all the components had been reassembled and then tie-wrapped to the branches of a nearby tree.

That then gave way to the more common 'in public with only a towel' dream. It probably means something, but familiarity provides comfort, so I'm OK with it.

Isn't this news providing much needed reassurance that all is well ?

@ Bax San,as Jonathan Franzen would issue - the rats are down the bottom of the garden, the cats sometimes bring em up. The mice come in for the fudge. But stay downstairs. Being ex vegan there is never any feather in my pillow or duvet. Bladerunner is 2049.

My dreams last night had strong rat opening before going under, like big rat head nutcracker figures but dreams went aliens visiting anglosaxon village. Standard policier set in Glasgow where the culprit was the son of the chief social worker and then long and enjoyable James Joyce recitation thing which included Annie Lennox telling me she was in a band called the eurythmics. (Bumped in from the severe weather thread). Quite a vivid and constant night possibly caused by the sainsburys onion Bhaji left over from tea that needed scoffed before bedtime.

One time i was cooking pasta with a few slithers of bratwurst, one of which fell to the kitchen floor but i swooped it up so swiftly that it was surely still safe to eat

Well it certainly wasn't safe to eat and had fused with the rat piss on the lino and i ended up with a nine day unabated 40c delirium fever

Alas I didn't dream of bicycles as it was all inescapable interdimensional impossibilities of lovecraftian non-human origin

@amir, I have an anxiety about relating my dreams to others for fear they are too boring and repetitive. I think reading the following as a child started it all (read to the end...)

from 'The Diary of a Nobody'

"Gowing and Cummings had dropped in during the evening, and I suddenly remembered an extraordinary dream I had a few nights ago, and I thought I would tell them about it. I dreamt I saw some huge blocks of ice in a shop with a bright glare behind them. I walked into the shop and the heat was overpowering. I found that the blocks of ice were on fire. The whole thing was so real and yet so supernatural I woke up in a cold perspiration. Lupin in a most contemptuous manner, said: “What utter rot.”

Before I could reply, Gowing said there was nothing so completely uninteresting as other people’s dreams.

I appealed to Cummings, but he said he was bound to agree with the others and my dream was especially nonsensical. I said: “It seemed so real to me.” Gowing replied: “Yes, to YOU perhaps, but not to US.” Whereupon they all roared.

Carrie, who had hitherto been quiet, said: “He tells me his stupid dreams every morning nearly.” I replied: “Very well, dear, I promise you I will never tell you or anybody else another dream of mine the longest day I live.” Lupin said: “Hear! hear!” and helped himself to another glass of beer. The subject was fortunately changed, and Cummings read a most interesting article on the superiority of the bicycle to the horse."

I had my exam-to-end-all-exams (PhD viva) a month ago. Over the summer by day I was calm and quietly confident in my preparations. By night every possible way it could go was played out in my dreams. The most memorable was a painfully drawn-out 'Who wants to be a millionaire' version with dramatic lights, music & pregnant pauses before I was asked a question.
