There is a genuine public transport problem shifting people to edge of town industrial and light commercial units, for example Sighthill, from the places people live, particularly the endless oceans of dormitory housing in West Lothian, Midlothian and Fife. While all these areas have a bus or a train, the home to workplace journey times by PT can be huge*.

However city centre office owners can't appeal to this transport poverty - every single bus and train hubs out of it.

* Just one sample journey - 20-50 mins by car vs 60-90 mins by bus

“Lack of parking at the office.”

May well be true.

BUT that’s perhaps the problem of the perception of those who ‘book’ office space - rather than those who might fill (most of) the office space.

Clearly there is a problem with people who don’t realise the percentage of people in Edinburgh who get to work by bus, train, walking, bikes or even tram.

Perhaps letting agents should upgrade bike parking and shower facilities and promote this as a way of attracting a fit and healthy workforce...

I've been searching for office space recently.
I was surprised at the availability of reasonably sensible costs in city centre locations.
Speaking to the broker he's saying that the main issue getting them filled is..... **drum roll** ....

Lack of parking at the office.

Seems to be plenty office space in town. Also seem to be building lots more in town. Will maybe all be empty?

It is expected to help tackle a shortfall of high quality office space in the city

Brexit should take care of that nicely.

“

Major development tabled for sites across the west of Edinburgh would cause gridlock if developers ignore the need for improved infrastructure and more local services, according to a politician.

The proliferation of small and medium housing developments in western Edinburgh has already had a monumental impact on both roads and infrastructure and Liberal Democrats MSP Alex Cole-Hamilton said without serious consideration by planners, the situation will only worsen.
