So you glad you took the advice about ‘where should I live?’?

great ride today, headed up the B road with the "cut through" @ kelty, and the country roads were very quiet,
no ice but damp -- however grit and grime all over them , my legs were black when i got back.

one rider passed me and said he was on his way from Edinburgh to Aberdeen, he hit his tri bars and was away!!

on the way back a red-trek guy passed me, his bike looked pristine compare to mine and the stripe up my back too!!

all in all a great few hours out!

as panyagua said.

A potentially nicer route is up to Duloch, Linburn Road, past Dunfermline Queen Margaret and through Townhill and over Cleish Hill to Kinross. All sustrans signed.

Up through Crossgates, then left onto Old Perth Road at Hill of Beath (it's traffic calmed so not that much of a rat run), then straight up through Kelty, wee corner cut at Maryburgh, then back onto B road to Kinross. Have done it many times with no problems. Beware the temperature may be a few degrees lower than Dalgety Bay once you get up to the Kelty/Cowdenbeath area, so if there's a risk of ice I'd avoid the Maryburgh cut through and probably the wee road to Pathstruie to be honest.

If you don't fancy the climb back towards Hill of Beath on the way back, you can take the A909 rather than turning back towards Kelty, head towards Cowdenbeath, then turn right at Foulford Road at the second roundabout. It's still a climb but it's shorter than the Old Perth Rd climb.

I usually take the B road. Can't recall any issues with it - but typically early Sunday mornings.

I've never cycled on either, but they seem to be equally popular amongst Strava users.

I call upon those here knowledgable of such things....

Flu/lurgy gone by saturday i was hoping to do a long ride up to Pathstruie from Dalgety Bay - was looking at google and other mapping sites, and to get through Cowdenbeath there seems to be 2 options
B917 old perth road - a B road
A909 - i normally avoid A roads, but this does have an onroad cycle lane.....

The B road still looks preferable, but is it a rat run for cars to avoid Cowdenbeath ??
Thanks for info!

ps. Total route is looking simply like, Bay -> Crossgates -> Cowdenbeath -> Kelty -> Kinross -> Pathstruie , back same route.
