"A pedestrian narrowly avoided serious injury after falling off the pavement into the path of a bus in Edinburgh."

Is this evidence that armadillos don't necessarily increase the risk of falling in front of traffic? Or does Morning side road need to be removed now that there is more than circumstantial evidence that it poses a risk to pedestrians?

gembo - I did wonder about that, the bike looked more placed than crashed. At first I thought a cycling medic had stopped to help, but assumed the BBC had more information than I gleaned from a quick passing glance.

Is this now being described as pedestrian falling in front of bus? This is on BBC website. In the photo you can see a bike lying on the pavement?

I passed the incident on Morningside Road, didn't stop as there were already lots of people in attendance. Best wishes to the cyclist involved.

A horrible section of road, made worse by the bus stop being on the inside of three lanes of traffic. Not the first time I have thought "What on earth am I doing cycling here?" at that point.

Hope they are ok. I live just along the road and use this junction daily. It is pretty bad. Its a box junction but is usually blocked so cars are often moving through the junction even when the lights are against them. The South side of Greenbank Drive is effectively a car park which considerably narrows the road. Also, despite the narrowness of the road it is extremely fast. When turning from Comiston Road onto Greenbank Drive you need to swing out to get round the cars that are parked pretty close to the junction. This places you in the stream of traffic which often comprises impatient tall gaters (most of whom have probably totally ignored the 20 mph limit on Comiston Road).
