Hope that looks worse than it is.

Nice Xmas modification to the Cocteau triplets Twitter handle, but not as good as Magnificent Octopus IMHO.

Aye it'll put a damper on our plans for a Christmas morning ride!

Roads still are greasy. Best wishes to her and hope she makes a full recovery. Real shame before Christmas too.

Sending my best wishes, I hope she recovers quickly.

I wonder if there is a diesel spill there, or some other road surface problem?

On and off there have been rivers of slippery mud dragged down the hill from the St James construction site as far as the roundabout and a little beyond.

Thanks everyone. She has been snoozing all day, the painkillers are working and the swelling on her face has diminished as the bruises have ripened. She revealed to me that she'd always wanted a black eye, though I suspect this wasn't what she had in mind.

:( grim. hope she's not too sore and the concussion isn't too bad.

(i stepped on my favourite glasses yesterday, but luckily they came with a warranty).

No ice recently but the roads have been very greasy. I hope she recovers quickly and is back on the bike before too long.

Sorry to hear that. I hope she recovers soon.

My father also fell off there a few days ago while turning right at the London Rd roundabout. Also lost traction. I wonder if there is a diesel spill there, or some other road surface problem?

He didn’t think there was any black ice as it was too warm

Oh yikes. That's horrible. Very glad she wasn't hurt worse, but still sounds really sore. (And smashing favourite glasses, argh.) Hope she has a very restful Christmas healing up.

The bike went out from underneath my wife last night, on the way home. I was a few cars behind and didn't see anything until I saw her bike on the ground and feared the worst. That small moment when you think everything's falling apart...

She said that she'd just lost traction with the front wheel. We'll never know. There were a lot of people around her already when I got there but nobody had a good idea what had happened. Someone was on 999 already.

She was conscious but bleeding. Conscious enough to tell the guy who wanted to put her in recovery position not to move her. She's got training, she's the one who's calm in a crisis :-D

Smashed her (favourite) glasses. Concussion. Road rash on face, elbow, hip, knee, ankle. Got back from A&E about 1.30am.

Collected her bike from a nearby railing this afternoon. Brake hood's been dunted inwards on the side she fell but otherwise just cosmetic. Maybe time for new bar tape?
