Looks now to be real;</p> <p><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/jan/10/france-cuts-speed-limit-rise-deaths" rel="nofollow">https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/jan/10/france-cuts-speed-limit-rise-deaths</a></p> <p>The reason I abjure road cycling outside towns as much as possible is that I'm losing the ability not to imagine being struck from behind by a tonne of metal at 60mph. 50mph would still be fatal but much quieter, much calmer and much safer.</p> <p>It will be interesting to see the extent to which the 80kph limit is as disregarded as the current 90kph limit. </p>
