I suspected many drivers wouldn't notice the difference in the lettering, or see the words "camera cyclist" below "Police". A better study could show if that one letter difference did cause (or at least correlate to) such different driver behaviour.<br /> Are the 1-2% of very close passes from the same 1-2% of drivers, or is there a much larger number of drivers who do this some of the time? It looked like there was a police officer enforcing the law. I’m not sure that is true. I think his study found that it did not matter what you wore, passing distance remained the same. (Perhaps there was a small difference when the ‘police’ tabard was worn.
