Haha, just found this searching for another old post. I can't recall the customer, I probably should given the description!

I quite often recommend supermarket crates and the like. That's what I have on my Gazelle! As alluded to, the full legit look is a Heineken (or Amstel) crate.

That said, I can supply a Basil (Dutch luggage brand) fietskrat for £15...

Thanks for the tip, @nedd1e. I've been humming and hawing about a rear basket for a while. I think THIS will look cute as a button on my bike. :)

One of these would do the job, and a good price too, if you can face the awful ride out to Straiton

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/small-storage-organisers/storage-boxes-baskets/baskets/

PS: Wicker crate much more eco than a plastic one, which will still be in our oceans in 200 years time

My basket is attached with five ~8mm zip ties

More robust and less damaging to the paint than the supplied metal bracket

There was a bike parked at my work with a heineken crate attached to back rack with many robust zip ties. would be hard to not out-class that...

I have a work colleague who is a little thrifty and lives in Linlithgow. He comes to me for advice on a crate for his wife who is Spanish, in regards to a porteur rack on her bicycle. I ask, what sort of bike is it? He says a gazelle. So I say ah well then your best bet is to go to Hart cyclists and Graeme will order you the gazelle crate. He says that is where we bought the bike and I am not paying twenty quid for a crate. Ok, I say come and look at ths crate another colleague has brought to work to keep the biscuits and tea and coffee gubbins in. A grayish wooden crate with lot of fancy French words related to cider spelt cidre on the sides. Turns out they were two for fifteen quid at The Range. Another colleague voiced the opinion the crate was better than anything else The Range ever sold. He is off to Falkirk which is the nearest place with a The Range shop. He is then. Going to cable tie the crate to the bike. Classy.? Dutch bike with fake French crate ridden by Spanish person. Brexit, Up Yours as Polly Styrene would maybe have sung were she still with us.
