At that point it was a very enjoyable path as long as you don't crave corners.</p> <p>I was on either 23,25 or 28mm tyres so you will be fine. There's a BMX track off to the left at one point. According to OSM:</p> <p>In Montrose, it follows an asphalt cycle path, then goes onto a concrete track.</p> <p>Between Gourdon and Inverbervie, it follows a cycle path. Surface isn't tagged, but since it's marked as a "cycle path" rather than a "track" or just a "path", it is almost certainly fine.</p> <p>There are also a couple of places where there are two different options - one on road and one off road:</p> <p>Between Gourdon and Johnshaven, the offroad route is marked as a "track" and doesn't have a surface tag. Probably fine, but maybe not.</p> <p>South of Arbroath, the offroad option follows the railway. Marked as a "compacted" cycle path. Possibly fine, possibly not. I've also got a ticket on the 0606 EDB - ALM for Saturday morning. Was planning an west-trending ride home from Alnmouth via Dunbar and North Berwick, taking advantage of the wind to make me feel fitter and faster than I am.</p> <p>HOWEVER - the forecast for Saturday is deteriorating, and there's now a Weather Warning for ice and snow for Saturday morning in Northumberland and Borders. So I'm wondering about riding home from Stonehaven instead, following NCN 1 along the coast the whole way to Dundee and then NCN 777 from Dundee to Falkland then NCN 1 home to Edinburgh - a ride that has a westbound trend that appeals given the current wind forecasts.</p> <p>Would you have any route advice for me? Is the NCN north of Dundee passable on 28mm slick tyres? </p>
