There is a flying fox/ aerial runway strung above it. Looks like you would get winched over in a harness. Not sure who 'runs' this activity.

What's needed is a spidercam so you can fly through the glens like a Tornado pilot.

There is no walkway but there is a viewing platform somewhere around Penrith so you get a decent aerial view. Plus some information boards which are interesting.

“

After the sale of the hotel in 1985, parts of the map deteriorated slowly over the years and, while it remains generally substantial, some of the concrete is now in a fragile and ruinous condition.[3] In 2010, a group of volunteers calling themselves Mapa Scotland was formed which secured category B listed for the map from Historic Scotland in 2012[13] and aims to restore it to its original condition while promoting it as a heritage monument, educational resource and visitor attraction.

I like this feature.

First saw it when on a work course at Barony Castle - which at the time was IIRC the training centre for Scottish Ambulance Service.

It was overgrown and in disrepair then, so good news repair has been completed.

Going by the drone photo, it looks a lot better from above, wonder if they have incorporated a viewing walkway?

In any event, worth a detour if you're in the area on the bike.

Last weekend I pointed this out as we approached Edelston. My cycling buddies expect such trivia. Little did I know it had just been renovated and made the news this week. Good map inside water feature
