I have seen the tram cut up a bus on pincer street when the bus had a green light, lights may have been out of sync but was poor road awareness as could see bus coming and green light. It may have been lights out off sync but thinks its been reported as bus red light in this instance but is this correct or not

You'd think the tram would have very few to nil "at fault" collisions. After all, it is fairly predictable with where it'll be and when! There's not exactly scope for it to come out of nowhere (honest guv).

That seems like a pretty massive leap to me. We don't even have a official confirmation that he ran a red light, however likely it seems, nor that he was conscious at the time of the crash. And I can't think of any motorists who would have less incentive to routinely dice with death to save a few seconds than a shuttle bus driver.

If Klaxon is correct that "The lights there turn red for general traffic very early so trams can pass over the level crossing without slowing to a crawl" and the reports are correct that the driver was driving a shuttle bus to the airport car park you have to assume that the driver was used to running the lights there and getting away with it?

Do the trams themselves crash any more often than buses or taxis? I think this is the first serious injury a tram has been involved in and the first time one has derailed. Unless the circumstances of this one prove quite unusual I don't think the tram was at fault. In fact, I don't think an Edinburgh tram ever been at fault in an accident yet. This perhaps shouldn't be a surprise as they're probably the most rigouously trained drivers on Edinburgh roads.

The on-street infrastructure is another matter entirely obviously.

Wonder if this'll result in half barriers being installed and it being treated more like a railway crossing.

Impressive levels of damage. "Apparently the bus has gone through a lights somehow and struck the tram." Somehow...

I saw this - apparently the bus driver ran a red light - but from the look of the tram and how far off the tracks it was shunted, they must have been going at quite some speed?
