At least the kids tend not to be attached to their owners by 20ft long spring-loaded kevlar-reinforced cords.

I don't mind slowing down while a daft dog makes up its mind where it wants to go, so long as it doesn't result in a tripwire being strung across my path.

i've used that for a very specific commute, and i think it was faster than the roads (canonmills to haymarket). at the very least, it involved fewer hills.

agree that there's enough tourist foot traffic you probably wouldn't want cycle commuters rocketing through.

i do think, surely it's common sense to keep dogs on leads during peak times. the WoL path past the Warriston allotments is chokka during term time, and it's hard enough predicting where the kids will go, dog-mind-reading is beyond my abilities first thing in the morning.

apparently I am in the younger minority of respondents to this survey (strange as I am old)

Did call out a boy racer on a bike down there many moons ago when I thought such things were worth the effort. (see Towpath thread only last week with @arobcomp coming across similar poor cycling in and out of the dusty bluebell pedestrians

'Ban people from walking along it on a Sunday morning similar to Arthur's Seat!'

Is that a joke?

'Though I personally am often on a bike, this is a route where cyclists should accept it is of limited cycling standard and mainly for walkers, who have priority.'

Agree with this. As a runner and future dog owner (hopefully) it's nice to have some unpaved paths in the city.

Not being a denizen of any of DVRL's pages I, unfortunately, missed out on this and would like to have contributed. No doubt others feel the same.

Local cyling groups apparently e-mailed but evidently not the biggest local cycling group, Cycling UK Lothians and Borders, whose approx 1200 members might have given substantial contributions. Perhaps something for future survey publishers reading this to bear in mind?
