We've got a tow-bar mounted bike rack which can take 3 adult bikes and a kids bike quite happily. I would generally prefer a rear carrying rack rather than a roof one (for multiple reasons... Ease of loading, ability to go under car park barriers, less wind resistance...) But I believe rear racks have the problem of obscuring lights and number plate. I don't have a connection point in the boot so could be expensive I understand. </p>
