I think I've had the bike a little over three years now. Hey, these things take tmie (especially when Mercian point out a chainstay is shot and have to sort a replacement, and then the bike comes back with some fundamental parts missing that are virtually impossible to source).

Bodges are looking like they might work, however.

Okay, I admit my 'expedition tourer' project has not taken anywhere near as long as this.....yet. Hats off to Anth for the extended timescale, slightly quicker than Tutankhamun's tomb restoration project.

Anth your H Lloyd order was the second mention of decals in a month, the first being in the obits for Don Van Vliet

Reproduction of a Don Van Vliet painting included on the sleeve [of Lick My Decals Off, Baby].

To be honest not that great a decal but quite good. The Sunbeam however looks good.

Anth, I never checked the link out originally as I was at work and "social networking" sites are all filtered by the internet police. However now the thread has been bumped I have, and it's a beauty :) would be fun to scalp people commuting on carbon road bikes on it, I'm sure she's more than capable of it!

Feel encouraged to post occasional updates here to remind me to check out the progress.

How goes the building? :-)

Also, looks like you don't need it, but do you know of (or does anyone else know of) a decent chroming place who can rescue knackered old bicycle bits?

Hendersons metal refinishing down at Jock's Lodge have done fine work for me in the past ;-)

In fact many years ago it was them that blasted and painted the frame on my commuter.

When I get round to de-lofting and inspecting my old frame I'll be sticking it up here for advice, though it's merely not new rather than vintage, collectible or antique.

Cool :)
In the predictable N&1 line I've always kind of hankered after a classic 30's/40's cycle to do up/restore. All the more so as I have a cyclemotor 90% complete in the shed awaiting restoration and clearly if i do that I'll need something period to bolt it to... :)

I shall watch your with interest and see if I can pick up tips ;)
