If you're going to Dawyck on Monday - Wed 12-14th Nov, there is to be a road closure between there and Stobo but "Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained with minor delays."

I usually take Frenchy's route 1, but go out Causewayside and up Kirkbrae. Not too pleasant, but direct and not the most horrific road I cycle on regularly.

Cafe is most excellent, think I had my best ever toastie there (cheese & pickle).

They do free guided tours, so worth finding out when and scheduling arrival around that - it was very good.

Think we will pass it Sunday. OUr Route goes Balerno Biggar Broughton. That is a great route

Not even sure we are adding Driva unneccessary climb

Then there is a fantastic straight to Stobo then up the Meldons and home via P'Cuick.

Gilmerton Station Rd and onto Roslin path.

Worth noting that Gilmerton Station Road is now 30mph, and has been for long enough that most people have now realised.

Depending on when you go, there's also a chance that the ramp from Drum Street to the new path will have opened.

Mrs LB and I tandemed there on least hilly and least trafficed route.

Out.
Gilmerton Rd
Gilmerton Station Rd and onto Roslin path.
Off via small road round to join Penicuik path off Auchendinny Rd
Up over by Leadburn Inn (coffee) and then down to Romano Bridge
Lynn Water road and busier section on A whatever to Dawyck turn off.
Back we missed out Leadburn and stopped at West Linton and then over moor to Penicuik.

Hmm, thanks, I will consider this version (i.e. look at sections on streetview a lot) - though the lack of deathiness-free routes is a bit frustrating.

I definitely prefer taking the deathy roundabout in the centre of Eskbank to the deathy A7, but plenty of people disagree with me.

You could also take the path out through Roslin, although the Roslin-Gladhouse road is probably deathier than the Bonnyrigg-Gladhouse road, so overall benefit maybe not great.

THIS year I will actually visit Dawyk Botanical Gardens before they shut for the winter. (I have been saying this every year since I moved back to Edinburgh...). Looking for a route with the least amount of deathy A-road. Not having to go up Kirk Brae a bonus.

Basically seeking any tweaks to this: https://goo.gl/maps/Bm9VzViwR5Q2

Also, o cake eaters, what's the café like?
