Now with the added benefit of a new Aldi up near the Winking Owl !!</p> <p>Great offroad cycling, took my son round Rothiemurchus this summer, done it a few times. Walking round the Green Loch also good fun. Plenty of quiet back roads and accessible by train if you're not in a hurry. E.g. could cycle out from Dumfries to Beeswing via the Old Military Road and have lunch at Loch Arthur Creamery and then go on via New Abbey to the Mabie Forest hotel - It's about five miles back from there to Dumfries and there's an off road path along the A711. Or head out to Moniaive via the back roads where there are a couple of lunch options.
