Algo, I think both toast racks are available should you want them. I will visit their location tomorrow to confirm but I've asked that they be kept aside. Total capacity would be 20 bikes. They would need collected by van, probably a LWB transit.

Argh, Mr popped a couple of spokes and was going to drop the wheel off at Grease Monkey today. I did wonder why their website was down.

What! Grease Monkey no more? That's a shame.

On the subject of temorary bike racks, people who organise triathons have them; but they are almost always of the kind described by Greenroofer where you hang your bike by the saddle and so may be too big for children's bikes.

I am not sure where your event is , but that’s not too important , on my hgv travels I visit many Asda stores. Often lying in the yard or close to gates, at rears where the big trucks go you might find bike racks. Don’t know why , maybe the space they took up is better used selling goodness knows what but have a butchers if you can , ask for the gsm, and politely ask if you can blag em ! You MIGHT need a van or something but , hey ho nothing ventured nothing gained? Best of luck! Maybe not ideal for temporary , but maybe someone else can use them for something?

@algo, you maybe could try grease monkey? I thought they had a pole stretched across two trestles you could hang bikes off by the saddles

many thanks @Greenroofer - I tried emailing the council but will try again - I think that's our best option. I'll try a different way in - perhaps my previous email fell on deaf ears

If this is a 'council' thing, is there a way to get hold of the metal barriers they use for crowd control. These are different to the plastic ones used for roadworks: not only are they more stable but they are suitable for locking a bike to. I'm sure that's what's used for LEL.

Other option is a scaffolding: I've seen these used on sportives and similar. Essentially you make a sawbench with two X's or inverted V's supporting a long horizontal section. You park the bike at right angles to the long tube by hooking the nose of the saddle over the tube so the bike hangs off the ground.

Here's all you need to know: http://content.tfl.gov.uk/temporary-cycle-parking.pdf

Hello,

I am organising this event at our local primary school

http://blackfordsaferoutes.co.uk/index.php/jgps-travel-committee/cycling-bus/

with a great deal of help from various on this forum - notably Roibeard, IWRATS, Frenchy and others. One thing I would like is to try and source some way of parking up the extra bikes in the playground - there will be many more than usual. It has been suggested by neddie that perhaps we could source some of those temporary barriers they use for roadworks to line up and use to park bikes against. I think I can possibly lay my hands on a couple of wheel bender racks but any other suggestions most welcome!

many thanks in advance. If anyone fancies coming along on this ride that would also be great - I'm planning on trying to do the same for one of the Pop-up Pops, but it's slightly dependent on how this one goes.
