Two phrases I banned them from saying ever were "I'd like to apologise" [but I'm not going to] and "all I can do is apologise"[i.e. can't actually do anything to help you]. </p> <p>I got an apology email from a company recently which had both in (and no actual apology) AND then when I went back to them repeated the same platitudes.
