I don't know the road layout, so apologies if this isn't applicable, but I'm fairly sure you're allowed to drive in a mandatory cycle lane in order to reach a designated parking bay.

I looked into this after seeing a similar layout in Perth.

Went down Chesser Avenue today and was slightly bemused at the new markings. The parking is available 24 hours so therefore it's a mandatory cycle lane with 0 hours of operation...?

On another note, it's exceptionally satisfying coming down there at rush hour and passing the queuing traffic

Chesser Ave was another one of the Council's "emergency" resurfacings. a.k.a. an excuse to do nothing to improve the layout and lock us into to poor design for another 25 years.

During resurfacing, the council can only make lining changes & sometimes small buildouts - things that don't require TROs, or that are not likely to attract objections or consultations.

I believe Spokes were consulted on Chesser Ave.

They're definitely new, they're completely ignored especially at the traffic lights at either end.

Did the council consult anyone on them? Its such a wide street you could have two way segregated lanes instead of magic paint.

Wait - solid white line, yet there's still parking on the inside of them? So technically drivers aren't allowed to use those parking bays, since it involves entering the mandatory cycle lane?

Or are there hours of operation signs for the cycle lane?

@cb, I can't get street view to open at moment but been over a year the new Tarmac went in. Not sure when street view was taken?

Can confirm that paint is no barrier to parking or blocking the cycle lane with your car regardless of broken or unbroken line of paint.

If you keep your wits about u it is possible to filter down to the traffic lights at the north of the street. I would avoid at all costs going beyond npmarks and Spencer heading south. Instead I turn west and cycle along to the David Lloyd Gym then down to WoL path.

Noticed the cycle lanes on Chesser Av have solid white lines. Is that recent? Street view shows dashed lines.
