However I hadn't noticed how much north there was in the wind. I went for a short ride this afternoon, exploring the bike paths of north east Edinburgh. On my eastbound way into Musselburgh I was feeling very fit, and was congratulating myself on the results of the hours I've spent on the turbo trainer in the past weeks. I turned round at the Levenhall Links roundabout, and found out why I was feeling so fit. Past dog trust and on to auchengray. From there the new Tarmac on mud road to Braehead was good. As was the new Tarmac down from Braehead towards carstairs. Though beware there is a hump back bridge which has lovely new Tarmac on the eastern side but craters on the west.</p> <p>Just before carstairs we took Loch road which is a very sheltered route in to Carnwath. Spoils by the industrial peat farm. Black scar on the landscape but I guess it is a formerly industrial open cast coal mine area. At Carnwath we missed the apple pie as it shuts earl on Sunday's. But we knew this was likely given the headwind we were battling. We refuelled and set off expecting to be blown home but the wind had turned to north easterly so headwind home.</p> <p>It was a beautiful day. And the pentlands ridge very well defined with the snow etc. But cannot go into lovely ride thread due to the double headwind. I am gubbed. </p>
