No sign signalling the end of the roadworks so every overtaking vehicle on George IV Bridge is committing some sort of offence, ne sont-ils pas? Have some of that "Cyclists dismount" action, drivists.</p> <p>Of course, coming from MMW with the Bristo Place lane blocked off, there were no vehicles to be overtaken by, so much nicer. As indeed it would at Roseburn</p> <p>The issue is illegal parking</p> <p>At forest road there used to be legal parking and then the pavement was widened in an attempt to discourage parking to improve flow. A segregated cycle lane could be installed in Forrest Road and traffic would still flow.<br /> 2. Illegal parking has a massive impact on traffic flow - I've never seen traffic move so efficiently through Forrest Road.
