Ended up with 100 bottles of Biere de lux

£5 for ten
£10 for twenty

What?

Lower your expectations if you are coming to the movie on the free beer front

I do like a mild

also like nanny state at 0.5% if in the bottle, goes flat in the glass

Tried an IPA at 0.5% in Holyrood 9A yesterday on draught. It smelt iffy and tasted watery

Kernel is still the best table beer we've found. But Flavourly does a FOURPURE table beer at 2.9% and SIMCOE SMALL PALE at 2.9% which are drinkable.

Agree with those above that beers are often too strong these days. Happy to have 1 glass of a strong beer with a meal, but prefer 3.5-4.5% abv for session ales.

Aldi have a Saison beer called Brevet- was rather good.

I recently saw a 7.5% ‘session ale’, no doubt invented in a marketing department

I’m quite fond of the 3.5% mark in terms of pacing an evening out but good beers there are so rare

Beer52 has an Edinburgh connection, so likely worth a shot.

i found them a bit annoying. difficult to unsubscribe to.

currently buying the occasional box from Flavourly instead. they have a great range of low abv beers, including table beer options (beer52 seemed to think anything below 5 was an abomination).

I used to like a beir d'alsace (or something like that) cheap stubbies from Tesco/Asda very drinkable. Probably not sophisticated enough for modern paletes.

They aren't Belgian but have you tried Stewarts. They sponsor ride to the sun amongst other activities.

Lidl used to sell Blanche De Namur, a sort of Chimay-a-like beer that was excellent at 1.50 a bottle. Haven't seen it in my local branch, but well worth a shout. They might have something to contribute.

Tesco and Sainsbury both sell Biere des Flanders, aka stubbies. Asda carry a good world beers range and are good at kicking in stuff for community activities. Beer may be different...

Long shot - Brewdog obviously do beer and have a cycling club thing going on...

Left it a big Late for what is an excellent suggestion. Friday is the screening, I reached out to beer factory and got the pound a bottle deal.

I am thinking of reaching out to Aldi

An original poster on here @Instography gave up working for Ipsos Mori or similar to become a brewer in Limekilns. He is now delivering two kegs of beer per trip on his electric bike.

I was tempted to reach out to him but Limekilns a bit far from balerno

Reach out to Beer52. I know they have a significant stock of beers and if you allow them to "sponsor" the event and advertise Beer52 subscriptions they may be willing to give you a few crates of something belgiany.

Indeed this was the point the committee made after my efforts with Edinburgh beer factory,

Can be the little French stubbies I guess as the race starts in Paris. We don't charge for the beer and tbh donations at edfoc films we have put on are lower than our regular shows (just because our regular punters know what the Deal is - free wine, free choc ices, bit of experimental jazz dancing from me to the pearl and Dean advert pa-Pas)

We are showing A Sunday In Hell next Friday in Balerno. Returns only. Previously tennants have sponsored us but they are no longer playing. Edinburgh beer factory were offering us a deal but whilst generous on their part was still going to be a pound a bottle. We do not like to charge but are happy for donations. So this option would be costly. Does anyone know if Aldi or LIDL do like replica Leffe and call it liffe et cetera?
