I think I did the Cycling Scotland Rider Leader course as part of being a Sustrans Active Travel Champion at Heriot-Watt a few years ago. It was a single day and seemed fine. It definitely helped with my confidence of marshalling the Harrison Park Feeder Rides at recent Pedal on Parliaments, but I haven't been a primary ride leader since doing it...

I'm interested in doing a Ride Leader's course, or similar, and wondered if anyone had any advice/recommendations.

The courses I've found so far are:

Cycling Scotland's Ride Leader course (£75) - Struggling to find "open" courses, though - they all seem to be private ones.

British Cycling's Ride Leadership course. Level 1 seems to be free if you commit to lead eight rides, but I can't find how long that's spread out over. They also offer a combined Level 1+2 course, but that costs £205.

Any others?
