Snowy, as I said on the spotted thread, it was my late call that caught you off guard, causing you to go with the full force. Did smart for a while but no lasting bruising and the doc said the arm was not dislocated.

@gembo Ah, apologies again. And I thought it was your iron fist in a fingerless glove. The closing speed is probably about 25mph which might explain it. I suppose we could just wave but where's the fun in that?

I do apologise, it was a cheap shot, I was just getting revenge for the high five from this week that left me with tingling fingers for most of the morning.

Snowy, that is not nice. I even let it off the commuting chore on Wednesday to go to Soutra aisle. The trusty warhorse that is my spesh Tricross has years left in the tank

True Kenny, no benches at all - at Soutra Aisle. Just display boards that despite being word heavy seem somehow not very infomative.

Lying on the shorter grass is Ok.

Glad Dr bike was able to help you. One day they might help me too :-)

Picnicked at Soutra Aisle today, watching the black clouds all around. Could do with a bench or two, though.

Brakes nice and silent after a little adjustment from Dr Bike at the Meadows the other day.

Doubly on topic!

Soutra was glorious. Bike held out under the blessing from Dr Bike. Humbie hub excellent. Return with easterly magnificent, we diverted to Cousland which is the nicest way into Dalkeith. After that all rubbish. However fab day out.

Big jams on bypass and A70 heading in to town and indeed Gilmerton out of town.

Dr Bike on the towpath was how I ended up going to the Bike Station for the first time to 'fix my own bike' session. My rear wheel had a bit of play and I was lured by the promise to save a few minutes on my commute to have a piece of toast in the morning.

'Spittals' back in the day like Alpine refuges below the big passes.

Interestingly the Polish word for 'hospital' is 'szpital' ('sz' is pronounced as 'sh').

Dr Bike with free brake blocks is proof that your employer loves you and wishes you to be safe despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Public Dr Bike session are principally a safety initiative paid for largely by the Scottish Government. The intention is to intercept unsafe bikes and direct them to commercial repair, but also to spread knowledge. Maybe they keep figures on how many unsafe bikes they find? That would be interesting.

There is also an aspect of outreach and community building. Do you feel reached-out-to?

Soutra eh? Nice. 'Spittals' back in the day like Alpine refuges below the big passes. Spittal of Glenshee, Dalnaspidal (place of the spittal) etc. Spittal Street in Aberdeen maybe because that town was reckoned to be as dangerous as the Drumochter pass?

I have a slightly fractious relationship with Dr Bike, but it is just bantz. At a bike service event at work which I arranged they gave my pal (now retired) four free brake blocks - I received zip. Then once at PoP their mechanic (whose mother both of us worked with) gave my pal more free stuff and again I got zip. As my pal has retired I felt sure i would get something out of them last night on towpath. So I rolled to a stop and smiled. The jolly Dr Bike said to me We're closed come to the meadows tomorrow. Tomorrow of course I will be out cycling with my old pal so his influence still impacting on my dr bike experiences.

As some recompense the jolly Dr Bike mechanic made the shape of the cross over my bike and blessed it for tomorrow's climb up Gilston to Soutra Aisle (third largest hospital in medieval Scotland) where we shall picnic.
