My experience with a bike box (permission based or otherwise) is that it was too short for a cargo bike, so I sank a ground anchor in the front garden and use a motorbike spec chain for the big bikes.

For something less permanent, I looked at the PlantLock, but I could opt for the more permanent solution in the end.

So this is related to my previous question, presuming I do get a cargo bike I need somewhere to put it!

I live in a ground floor tenement flat on a reasonably busy street. Due to steps and a narrow door said bike would have to live outside. Is it worth trying to get planning for a bike box, or is it worth chancing it? (i.e. are any of you willing to admit to successfully getting away without planning?) Should I just get a bike loop installed in the paved bit of the garden and store it with motorbike lock and cover?
