The crash must have happened not long after I passed through that point. </p> <p>The word at the finish line was that they crashed off the side of a bridge. </p> <p>I saw a lot (3+) of other crashes however. I don't know why there were so many. It was a bit wet and quite narrow, although most of the crashes I saw were on wide uphill sections. I took the descents very wimpily after seeing it all. </p> <p>Someone overtook me and nearly took out my front wheel at one point, I think a lot of sportive riders aren't used to group riding. I'm still bit shocked myself and sure lots of riders are (though I wasn't on it, I know the event well). </p>
