Usually when I'm going out I join the NEPN at south Scotland street and then all the way round to roseburn park from where I take the quiet route 8. </p> <p>I tried the water of leith path, never again. Some sections were really muddy, the diversion due to the landslide is confusing and it is very narrow in places. Also a very steep hill to tackle around dean's village. Took me much longer than just going around the NEPN. Usually when i'm heading back from university, I take the Craigleith Hill-Inverleith park route (quiet route 20). Frankly the Belford-Roseburn section is one of those paths which you are supposed to be able to cycle but personally I never would. Much too narrow in a lot of places with several blind corners. You can also go via Inverleith Park-&gt;Craigleith Hill Ave-&gt;NEPN. Heading for South Gyle from Cannonmills, is the route alongside the Water of Leith passable on a road bike. I know the bit from Stockbridge to the Dean village is metalled but I have memories of walking through a quagmire from Dean Village to Murrayfield.</p> <p>Other route suggestions welcome? </p>
