How crazy is that in this day and age. Why not get a smart phone then when it breaks get your mum to buy you a new one then get it stolen one week later leaving your mum to pay off a two year contract. Thank F that I was at the top of Suilven (the hard way) when this happened. My suggestion of a ten pound burner phone on a pay as you go deal (like IWRATS and any other crazies) did not go down well. Nor did my cleverer one where Garto gives number one daughter her phone and buys herself a new one. Too much for her to lug up to our first floor flat.</p> <p>The Orbea is about 14Kg off the shelf. even with her additional bottle cages, mudguards, lights etc its in the zone for her managing without a major struggle. They do a lighter (carbon) version for under 3 grand. Ribble seem to do an identical bike slightly keener priced.</p> <p>Ribble also offer an additional battery(doubling its range) which fits in a bottle cage. Have a Moustache with Bosch active line plus motor. I find if I am cycling at 16mph I don't need the motor anyway. </p> <p>Mostly commute from Drumbrae roundabout to Teviot and periodically between Teviot and RIE. Usually carrying 5-6kg worth of stuff in the panniers.</p> <p>It makes the uphill and headwind stretches easier and more consistent.
