Cllr Macinnes seems to be moving rapidly in our direction. When I attended a Spokes meeting at which she spoke in (I think) 2018, she seemed very defensive about criticism of the proposals for the tram extension (which at that point weren't at all good but were subsequently improved a lot), and in particular with regards to the plans not addressing the inverted pyramid of transport prioritisation... When I have heard her speak more recently she hasn't had to be as defensive because she is far more on board with making the 'right' decisions, e.g. City Centre Transformation plans.

I'd give Cllr Macinnes a year or 2 before damning her altogether. She has made the right noises, and has seen through the Transformation Project - which of course could be shelved. She does seem enthusiastic and is a good chair of the TEC Committee.

Lofty rhetoric from Cllr Macinnes, but as ever, actions speak louder than words.

The council has done precious little to restrict car use in the city. Until we see some real action then such rhetoric will remain just a headline grabbing tactic, nothing more.

Even this hot air has Cllr Cook up in arms, though it's rich for a Tory to complain about divisive language. What do I know, I'm probably a doomster gloomster saboteur talking Britain down.

Calls for a halt to the construction of new roads and improvements to public transport

Well, that is ambiguous and badly written...

Is the call to halt improvements to public transport as well, or instead to actually improve it?

“

Calls for a halt to the construction of new roads and improvements to public transport have intensified after a survey found nearly three quarters of people would prefer to make most of their every day journeys by public transport.
