“Don't I need dry weather for that?”

Fine if not actually raining.

“Sand could be "borrowed"

Might be a watercourse near you...

Should have said I've already posted on the Trash Nothing app (posts to Freegle and Freeshare) - there's no Buy Nothing group for my super middle class bit of town (I am considering starting one - if not here, for work & allied workplaces).

Hmm. PVA glue eh? Don't I need dry weather for that? Also some sand. Though my niece has a sandpit at my mum's house. Sand could be "borrowed"...

@sally clearly the people of D&G are more accepting of orphan spider plants. @bill offered to take one of mine. On the understanding that she would immediately kill it.

Versatile stuff PVA!

If decking is particularly manky, probably worth scoring with sharp knife point to get a better key.

If it's temporary you can sluice the deck with PVA and sling sand on it.

Have you got any local bartering groups on Facebook (other social media platforms are available)? I'm completely obsessed by the Dumfries one and have turned numerous spider plant babies into other types of house plants. I'm sure sourcing chicken wire would be no problem (the usual issues of people not turning up/messing about may be)

No this is not another attempt to give away my multitude of spider plant children.

Actually it's a request:

Problem 1: my mouse-infested remnant garden decking is slippy and slimy but I won't be able to tear it out for a few months.

Possible solution part 1: some chicken wire stapled down for grip should see me through.

Problem 2: I don't actually have any chicken wire & since it'll get ripped up in a few months buying a whole new roll seems wasteful.

Possible solution part 2:
Check if anyone on CCE has unwanted leftover / used chicken wire they are keen to dispose of; if yes acquire wire; finally, profit (from not skiting about and falling on my fundament while putting out bird / mouse food).
