@Baldycyclist, sorry to hear that. I hope you start making some improvements soon.

My skipping spot is covered in what fell as snow last night. I had been clearing it so it's just one layer of very rough ice now. so heavily frozen that even the swishing of the skipping rope didn't have an effect.

Oh, this thread has reminded me of my stupidity.

I've just been given amitriptyline to treat the pain from the probible nerve damage I've given myself. 3 months in and still got a sore rear end...

We're back in lockdown(lite) so my skipping rope is out for the first time in months. A combination of lack of practice, lost fitness and heavier clothes limited me to a maximum of 70 and a speed run of 30.

Not skipping, but other Covid/midlife crisis related activities.

The boy decided he wanted a skateboard, and of course so did I. I was quite good in my teens and early 20s, and therefore it stands to reason that I would still be good now nearly 30 years later.

Of course I'm not, but I only discovered that failing to do a front side kickturn at the skateboard park. Cue the heavy landing on my coccyx followed by smacking my head off the concrete ramp (luckily helmeted) resulting in a short term concussion, and it's still painful to sit now 2 months later.

Can skate again though, and luckily riding my bike isn't too sore now, but I couldn't do either for 6 weeks.

50 is when you grow up right?

@gembo It is through choice, not been told to. But being asthmatic it seems to me until the virus is much less prevelant, or someone orders me to go into the office. I'll be staying in the house most of the time.

I do go out for a long walk once a week with the family where I know there will be very minimal contact to other people, lucky to have deserted rural walks very close. Some smaller walks 'round the block' at times I can avoid people.

Have been in the car to go to relatives back garden once, and they have been here to ours once. They are not good at distancing which bothers me.

Other than that I'm lucky to have a mice big garden, and so spend a lot of time there.

I've moved onto elastic bands and a kettlebell. Still regularly on spin bike.

I'd love to go out on the real bike, but I'm essentially still sheilding, don't even go to the shops really.

I e decided my 'pulled' Calf muscle is just down to lack of use, so skipped through the pain.

I have quite a bad leg imbalance after an injury last May, with left leg being strong and right really weak.

I'd been trying to fix that doing daft unbalanced cycling pushing more on weak leg, was just really uncomfortable.

Turns out doing kettlebell squats and skipping seems to naturally work those muscles equally.

24 best today.

Does a good job of getting the heart going to after 50 or so cumulative skips.
