Pretty much everything else remains with the UK Government (safety, standards, all other franchises).</p> <p>The Airdrie-Bathgate service is currently running on an emergency timetable as the service is meant to be using trains cascaded from Ayrshire routes which were to have been raplaced by new Siemens trains. The new trains have encountered numerous niggles and are being introduced more slowly than anticipated.
