is it reasonably easy to get to dunfermile (and the start) by train?

Probably not, on the day of the ride though! Many of the trains only have room for 2 bikes maximum, so you'd need to be at the platform early, stand in the right place ahead of time, and have sharp elbows!

If you can wait a couple of years, you can do a *real* epic ride:

http://www.londonedinburghlondon.com/

Alternatively, if you'd just like to simulate the experience of riding from London to Edinburgh one-way, there are two 600km audax rides this summer leaving from central Edinburgh.

Edinburgh-Preston-Edinburgh on the 28th May. (Obvious as it sounds, ride to Preston and back).

Only for Softies on the 11th June. (Ride to near Carlisle, along the coast and back to Edinburgh at about 400km to sleep - then a 200km loop out to Stirling and around a bit to finish off).

I'll be doing both of these. From our flat to central London by the shortest possible (inc. motorway) route is 603km.

Any takers?

Yes, Pittencreiff Park is about 500m from Dunfermline Town station on Fife Circle line - although cycle stowage on these trains is pretty limited.

It's just as reasonably easy to get there by bike too :)

wow, one impossible and the other that could be tacked by a fish on a scooter. Anyone fancy Dublin to Edinburgh?

Easier? I sent this to a friend at work and we both quickly decided that we'd like a harder version where each rider got to cycle the whole thing, at their own pace (rather than at the event pace). £1800 seemed a LOT of money to raise for basically cycling 200 miles each.

"AN epic 37-hour cycle from London to Edinburgh is to be staged this summer raising money for a male cancer charity."
