This is not how things are 'done' in Edinburgh!! Chief Executives are seldom seen and rarely heard.</p> <p>She's only just started the job, is 'responsible' for a massive debt, bin dispute, snow crisis, tram etc. and already wants to go walkabout. </p> <p>I wonder what the Lord Provost thinks of the "figurehead" idea.</p> <p>I assume she will be doing more than 'talking to the business community' (features heavily in that Scotsman piece). </p> <p>Perhaps her tours will include some of Edinburgh's off road paths - though neither walking nor cycling feature in <a href="http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/info/690/council_departments/870/chief_executive/1">her official profile</a>. </p>
