"I knew someone on CCE would have been to this place. Knew it."
And to think that some people have questioned the point of Veloviewer.

From Edinburgh https://cycle.travel/ has an almost traffic free route, mainly using the A89 cycle path (decentish, but noisy?) then route 75.

From Glasgow (Byres Road) it takes you by the canals to Falkirk then south over some big hills.

Up Drumtassie lots of nice new tarmac one of the roads has a T junction takes you back down to Armadale if you turn right. Down to avonbridge if you turn left. From there the world is your oyster - Linlithgow bridge if you go back up by the church, torphicen preceptory and evening California if you take a wrong turn

That's actually very useful to know. Thank you.

Well if there's a chance you might be relying on my information I should probably give a bit more detail.

The <strike>boulder</strike> mush-hall is almost at the end of the spike in my route. Behind it you can see a gate/fence and beyond that is the farm track which comes from your junction. So your road isn't actually blocked at that point. I only went about 50m on your road but don't recall it being tarmac at this point, although it was better than what was behind me and passable on 28mm road tyres.

Behind me was a very overgrown track which leads from a new fishery (blue blob) which was dug but not flooded when I past. Presumably this was the source of the puffball.

The new fishery appears to be getting built by the owners of the Drumtassie(?) fishery to the west (Pink blob) this has been open a few years but doesn't yet appear to have been mapped. However the change in the wind farm access road which lead to the weird zigzag on my route has now been mapped. The fishery is visible on satellite views.

Hopefully that's slighty more dependable information but if you have any questions then don't hesitate to ask.

Alternatively if you meant the gala information was useful then I have no more details, I don't even recall which song they had blaring from the back of their van as they danced down the road.

My pal tam was given a lawnmower as a wedding present 30 years back. This summer he gave it to me (unhurt gift having previously given up the ghost) sadly the dodgy starter handle has broken, we have ordered a new one

Interim, he came round last night with petrol mower. I kicked the big flat yellow mushrooms off the grass and blitzed it in seconds. Boy do they shift. All he got was seven brown beer bottles, empty and they might come back full of red beer

I discovered this prop from Rick Dangerous

Maybe it's a giant puffball. :) You can see it's already exploded its spores into the wind.

Actually, I was mowing the lawn the other day and ploughed into the <strike>long grass</strike> jungle next to my rhubarb, and the mower bogged right down and a huge cloud of black smoke poured out of the air vents. I thought at first I'd killed the motor, but it fired up just fine again. Turns out it's not a good idea to lawnmow over your huge clump of common earthball fungus. Fortunately there was a gentle breeze, so my neighbour will discover a marvellously productive mycelium in about a year's time.

I almost passed there in June but as I was collecting Veloviewer squares I don't think you would appreciate my route. It was about 10 miles from Armadale where the local Gala appeared to be in full swing despite the virus.

If it's any use I ended up going along the track from the other end where I discovered this prop from Rick Dangerous blocking the path:

Mad Burn seems like a fitting name for the local waterway.

You can make someone from Armadale the Centre of Scotland happy by asking them if the Dreadnought Nightclub is still open? Ideal place to go for a laugh and come back in stitches.

Balerno, addiewell, fauldhouse, harthill Heights Armadale is one way to go

Pedal on Scotland would have come close from the Glasgow end had it been running last weekend

Dear Hive Mind,

Can anyone recommend pleasing and safe routes to this place;

https://goo.gl/maps/kxSTPPcFZYtwSeG9A

starting in both the West End of Glasgow and the south side of Edinburgh?

Edinburgh I think canal to Broxburn then North Greendykes, West Binny, Torphichen and down this track to Balmuir.
