@cb: how come Allermuir and Capelaw have WiFi but Castlelaw doesn't?

:)

IMO Castlelaw shouldn't really be on the map at all since it's outside the CEC boundary. With that in mind, it might then make sense to include Capelaw as a node, but not en route to Bonaly Country Park from Flotterstone (which is itself also outside the boundary). I'd have Bonaly reservoir as a node, as mentioned before, with another route heading east over Capelaw to the junction below Allermuir. Maiden's Cleuch, and Phantom's Cleuch (which isn't named), cross the city boundary so their status might be questionable too.

Also outwith the CEC boundary are Glencorse reservoir, Straiton Pond, Fisherrow Harbour and Musselburgh Beach. She says omitted South Queensferry - which is within the city boundary - in order to keep the diamond shape, but she's only got the diamond shape by including other locations which fall outside the council boundary. Harry Beck would be turning in his grave...

Great content. We should invite that lady to join CCE.

@urchaidh - haha!

@ejstubbs - I think I would have kept the map to within the bypass with perhaps a single node to denote the Pentlands.

Anyway how come Allermuir and Capelaw have WiFi but Castlelaw doesn't?

(Although Castlelaw does have that intriguing kettle lead style connector - always wondered if you can get power up there)

Also missed out Phantom's Cleuch, given that Maiden's Cleuch is shown.

Capelaw isn't really on the route to Bonaly Country Park from Phantom's Cleuch - if you go over Capelaw you end up on the route from Castlelaw to Dreghorn that passes to the west of Allermuir (the MoD's landrover track that's currently closed to vehicles due to a massive wash-out uphill from Green Craig). I'd probably have had Bonaly Reservoir as a 'stop' on the route, and Capelaw as a 'feature' off to the side - although that does rather break the apparent convention that reservoirs are 'features' whereas hills are 'stops'. But I'd argue that Bonaly Reservoir is very much a "green space' that people head to in its own right.

Fairmilehead Park is pretty much directly connected to Braidburn Valley Park by Cockmylane, which then leads on to the Pentland Hills Regional Park via Swanston Road.

Dreghorn Wood should be at the end of the route north from Castlelaw; Redford Wood should then be north of Dreghorn Wood, thence to Colinton Mains Park and then via Greenbank (which has a green space not shown at all) to Wester Craiglockhart Hill. Colinton Mains Park should still have its connection to Braidburn Valley Park. The route east from Dreghorn Wood could pass through Howe Park (which is a bit of a dog toilet TBH) and then to Fairmilehead Park by linking up to Swanston Road.

Hmm, perhaps I should have provided this feedback via Helen's web page rather than wibbling on interminably on here. Must resist map threads...

@gembo - we should pitch that to Channel 4 as a new Friday night sitcom.

How about "Parking in Roseburn".

@morningsider thanks for the link to the page of the Simon Parker files where his ‘niece’ Tilly appears. Epic. She could be a grown woman now (if she is real)

He is moving up to Edinburgh I hear to live in the spare room of Pete Gregspn’s flat.

Do check the second photo of his Earth Cycle project webpage. I want to give it the title Simon Parker stares at object

EDIT - maybe a bit obscure for newer CCE members. Do enjoy.
