They are almost 2 years old now. I mostly just use them on roads but still not too shabby. The kevlar was undeniably tough and very difficult to cut to length, but (as @wingpig intimates) it's a kind of felty non-woven fabric. Haven't caught them specifically blocking something from getting at the tube but also haven't had many punctures.
