@urchaidh thank you! I've often wondered where that fork at QMU went.

The farm gate into the estate was open when I rode that way a few weeks ago. May just depend on the whereabouts/movement of the farm beasts/beast riders?

(Did this for a friend with kids, hence warning about road section)

There are several other tracks around those fields worth exploring, though sadly original setted road down to road at Newton/Wellington farms is blocked.

Can also come done new tarmac path from Musselburgh Station parallel to ECML then use tracks alongside railway on either side to bridge. Development is started/pending on all of these fields so things may change.

Locked but climbable (depending on bike and ability) farm gate on way into estate. There's a reasonable level of traffic (horse riders) uses it so always worth hanging around if you see a car coming to save a climb.

@urchaidh could you draw that on a map? I've been looking for a quiet route into Dalkeith Country Park.

Beautifully comedic that moment. Perfect timing.

Yep mini-algo did pretty well going through town to Victoria Quay and then the Crags and back. She's not yet experienced drunken crowds at night in the centre so was somewhat nervous, but she was great. Big thanks to @NiallA and Andy Catlin for their lovely company and support en route from Victoria Quay to the crags via Easter Road - was very helpful. Also nice to see @Chrisfl and Kim.

Mrs Garto is moaning that they haven’t taken enough off.

You were busy later with the projections and a keen helper. Nice PoP action and photos.

As I said to He who must remain in the shadows, if he hadn’t curated the route from Woodburn my roadie template would have kicked in and forced me onto the main roads of metropolitan Dalkeith which are never nice. instead you @algo were able to ask me who could live in the Ancrum Mansions and I could say descendants of slave owners just as a nice couple appeared on their walk.

Serendipitous meeting - worth it for sight of the haircut alone, and the delightful trip across the roundabouts of Fort Kinnaird.

Thanks Urchaidh, think we did that or bit of it a couple of weeks back.

Was joined by Algo and The Shadowy one. he who remains in the shadows made us detour to fkn screw fix at Fort K. Shocking.

Then path all the way.firth aqueduct highlight. One wet for from fording burn at green cleugh where there was some photo shoot with woman in green velvet cape. Waterfall a mere trickle.

DoE out in force.

Try a right under the A1 before QMU then east of Millerhill across the fields to Monktonhall Garage, then into Dalkeith Estate, out by Town Gate and down hill to pick up PK path. Bit more fun than Esk/Whitecraig route.

If you detour via Porty, will stand you a coffee at the Wee Green Van.
