@yodrin on saturday I saw several riders wearing raincovers/ overshoes that looked like what you want but i did not manage to ask them where they got them.

at least one pair was basically fluorescent boot/covers, looked intended for cycling; not fitted like road shoe covers. more comprehensive than hiking gaiters.

so i think such things do exist in the real world.

@gembo Aye I looked at them first, they work fine for keeping rain out of your shoes from the top, but I've not found any that cover the shoe itself like the cycling ones do, so a heavy downpour can still soak them through.

@SRD I'm aware it's an occasional thing, most of the time I'll be fine just chucking the poncho on, but the bike is my transport and if I need to do the shopping or check in on my grandad I can't say "ah well, the rain is a bit heavy I'll just not bother". I suppose if all else fails I'll just make some myself with waxed cotton.

The problem with cargos is that they’re likely to be cotton and horrible when wet (as you will know.). Not sure what to suggest if you can’t change after a cycle.

As others have said, there’s not *that* many rain days.

I only ever wear my cape in summer. Usually with shorts under.

For winter bottoms I wear Lidl winter cycling tights. Somewhat water resistant and quick drying.

I think you describe galoshes? No idea where to get any mind you!

Back when I didn't have cycling specific shoes i used to wear my usual shoes (high combat boots) for cycling. Often my feet would be the only dry bit of me! Grade B+ surplus ones are bith cheap and watertight. This might be an option coupled with a cheap pair of workies overtrousers from Screwfix?

These days I just embrace the wet.

Got caught in the rain the other day and my mind turned to what to do about it - I'd already decided to go the poncho approach despite windyness(mainly so I don't have to go and buy *another* set of gear if all the cycling pays off and I loose weight, plus the one I'm leaning towards has straps and poppers so it shouldn't be that much worse than a raincoat), but I've been trying to find something I assumed must exist but by my searching doesn't seem to? Namely above-calf gaiters with integral shoe coverings that *don't* have peddle clips(they don't even need to cover the sole, straps would do) - does anyone know where I might find such a thing?

Oh and for added fun, they have to fit over size 15 shoes/boots.
