Yeah, perfectly normal when it is mild. I've had them in November before now, and friends have had them in January. Spend time in a place where the deer lie and and enough will tend to be active to get you.

They wee ones also seem to be able to crawl through the pores in lycra as I have been bit when wearing tights that in theory cover all flesh. Boots and trousers seem to provide better protection despite being a looser fit - most bites with such clothing on wrists and waist (and once notably on my face...)

We had a tick attachment to the juiciest member of our party at Comrie Croft the other week.
Probably the high bracken we pushed through. @IWRATS reminded us all to check. The mild autumn has resulted in ticks still being around,

Wasps still in my attic, been there all summer.

It has been really mild for the time of year. Most trees only just beginning to shed leaves, crops and weeds still growing profusely. So I imagine ticks, and a variety of other beasties, are still around and will be until it gets significantly colder and darker.

One of my kids acquired a tick over the past few days.

We had not anticipated ticks and had not packed our tick card.

We’ve been cycling, in waterproofs. Ate at least one lunch standing up because it was so wet.

I don’t think the kids have spent much more than 10 minutes sitting down, and that was on a pannier cover. And maybe 5 mins walking from a cycle path to a nearby historic site (Duke Murdoch’s Castle, remains of).

Is it normal for ticks to be alive this late in the year? And so eager to hitch a lift/grab a bite to eat?
