I have cycled across and around it literally thousands of times and, anecdotally, I've had very few actual instances of harm coming to me. There are some important vehicular cycling aspects to this roundabout, when travelling from Longstone Road to Saughton Road, because it's large, it's often busy, there are some poor sightlines and the geometry is not circular.</p> <p><ol type="1"><li>Use the left-hand lane on approach, adopt strong primary position.</li><li>Right-hand shoulder check once on the roundabout, to look for drivers attempting to overtake and for A71 westbound; and drivers approaching on the roundabout who will take the A71.</li><li>Signal right as soon as you are on the roundabout and while shoulder checking, if there are drivers to your right.</li><li>Watch traffic on A71 eastbound closely; the hedge and the road sign both reduce your sightlines.
