They will pay £214m, with local councils raising the remaining approx £36m. There are big arguments against the road even for those living elsewhere...<br /> <strong><br /> £250m is a huge sum - enough for safe routes to every Scottish school</strong>, or 8000 Home Zones, or new Edinburgh rail lines to Penicuik, Galashiels, Airport and the Suburban [Spokes 80].
