I guess let's imagine that you are going to lose a spoke or two during the lifetime of the wheel. At that moment how much would you pay to be able to replace them simply? If more than the difference in wheel cost then you know the answer.

Should note that I've had many spokes over the years break off flush at the nipple, so you need to dismantle a traditional wheel anyway to swap the nipple.

I've only ever snapped spokes by derailing the chain on the fixie. Don't do that is my advice :-D

Modern spokes are much strong.

It's been a while, last time I pulled the nipple through the rim but that was on the mtb and I'm a bit hashy with it. Actually snapping a spoke its been years and on an older bike which had seen some milage.

However having to dismantle the wheel to true it would be a pain, though not as urgent with discs.

Looking to get some carbon allroad wheels for touring and have two options. One heavily discounted lighter wheel with internally accessible spoke nipples designed for high end gravel use or the cheaper model of the same brand, slightly stronger and has externally accessible spoke nipples.

Thinking of doing some remote cycles like the Hebridean way and if I run into issues I don’t really want to have to redo rim tape if a spoke snaps.

Any thoughts?
