The footpath is shared use starting around Turnhouse Road - it swaps sides once at Gogar over the bank bridge, then you'll have to swap back at the Ingliston figure-8 junction. The crossings there are uncontrolled but outside of rush hour if you're careful you can jog the bike across both the slip roads, and there's a proper lights controlled crossing on the northern side. The last roads down into the centre itself are a take your chances affair I'm afraid, the pavements are meagre even for peds and aren't shared use.

I managed it okay for the vaccines last year and I'd only been back on the bike for a few months at that point, so it's not a terrible route.

I have just heard from the organisers that there will be a bike parking area next to the box office, which is near the main entrance.

I'm going to the Connect Festival out at the Royal Highland Show this weekend. I have never needed to go here before.
Assuming they have cycle parking (their website says nothing about cycling at all - but I have contacted them to enquire and can report back) I would plan to cycle. What is the recommended route from town? A8 looks nightmarish; is the footpth dual use (and if so, north or southside?).

Cheers all.
