You'll be OK on 28mm road tyres though if you approach it cautiously plan ahead and have reasonable handling skills.</p> <p>I'm assuming you're going there to grab some Veloviewer squares and join Fife to the Lothians (I can't think of any other reason to ask this specific question). If so then come in from the North and you can ride the rougher tracks downhill. You end up coming out through the police college grounds, which was fine in 2019 so hopefully still is.</p> <p>I rode it on a CX bike with Gatorskins with with 25 on the front and 28 on the rear. Although it definitely was a PITA it was preferable in my mind to riding out there on more suitable tyres.</p> <p>The greatest puncture risk would be from pinch flats on the larger "gravel" so I would recommend ensuring your tyres are at the higher end of your pressure range.
