More from the Glasgow Cyclist archive (2022), they must have a magic money tree through there...

CCG is moribund but has a life through Go-Bike with loose interventions from those who have stepped back from being prominent but remain & pop up on various issues - eg Magnatom has been highlighting recent EDC consultation on Balmore Road, Andy P often leads Go Bike Rides, Isers M, Peter H & others around doing their bit

Sauchiehall is not the best delivery - with a die-straight line that gets rider blasting down the slope past bus shelters which people can step out from behind the posters right into the path of a cyclist

Some ridiculous use of zig zag markings & the original tactile paving was laid the wrong way round... Tarmac was also hand laid, and really lumpy to ride along

Outside Barclays new building they managed to use correct tramline tactile on one side of access to car park and corduroy (wrong on the other side - barely 3 metres away on same job!

Sauchiehall St is a good example of taking space away from drivers and giving it to walking and cycling. It's got a good surface, the road crossings are clearly marked...it's much more CCWEL than Leith Walk!

I bumped into Magnatom way back when the Bears Way - another big infrastructure project - was opened. They had quite a bash. Runs north from Hillfoot station.

What happened to CCG (the .citycyclingglasgow forum)? I've only just remembered it.

The contrast between Glasgow and Edinburgh could hardly be more extreme, could it? Looking forward to a site visit some time!

Was sent this:…this is a link to an active travel prject … in Glasgow. This is another link in creating a high quality integrated network. This turns a 1970s car orientated road associated with M8 with underpasses etc and turns it into an active travel corridor that includes removing barriers to use greatly improved safety, potentially removing traffic from one leg of a notorious junction and creating lots of green spaces, rain gardens etc. Good to know what you think.
