@nearefare I've never had much of an accent. my parents were CFAs (come from aways), and I've been away too long.

(I did once stop on Leith St to give directions to a lost tourist, spot that his accent sounded familiar, and find out that he lived down the road from where I grew up though!)

Like Eddies for having a good selection thou a bit pricy, George Hughes also, they've been happy for me to ring in an order and pickup on way home, even after 5:30 when shop is shut, I just phone them to say I'm outside or knock. Also do a deal on trimings ideal for the fish pie :)

Coming from Newfoundland I too am fussy about my fish. The only place I buy it now* is Patterson's from Eyemouth who come to the farmer's market on Saturday mornings. Have tried Eddies but not always impressed; Something Fishy on Broughton not bad. But Patterson's always fresh (although perhaps not quite as good now as a few years ago).

* save the occasional fishfinger for the younger members of the family.

Well there's one in Marchmont that famous TV chefs like, but I've never been that impressed - has more 'exotics' than most fish shops.

One in Morningside Road next to Mellis is fine - though they usually start taking stuff out of the window about 5 (don't shut 'till 5.30) which can be a bit annoying.

Hi there folks.
Coming down from Shetland, The Land of Good Fishmongers and one inparticular 'The Hand Made Fish Co' I am on the lookout for some quality fish once my student loan comes through next year.

Do you fine people have any preferences?
Now I am cycling it's great not worrying about parking either.

So any recommendations are greatlt appreciated.

Many thanks.

Michael
