They're mostly short sections on the run up to a bus stop. They probably get buses to the stop slightly faster, but also give more space for cars to overtake and cause delay.

The only exception is Commercial Street west from Aldi(https://maps.app.goo.gl/Z9HGmGxVzsqzbNCb8) which spans two bus stops, ending just before North Junction Street

The eastbound bus lane up to the junction of Ocean Dr has been extended right up to the junction, which will help stop cars getting in front of the bus

Further East, the bus lane appears to be mostly used as parking

Most bus stops in Edinburgh have been in the same place my entire life, many probably since the 1950's/60's. I don't think it unreasonable that their locations are tweaked as part of a larger transport project. Removing a stop located close to another may actually improve bus reliability.

I'm not keen on pavement narrowing, but as long as the new pavements are sufficient to meet the needs of users then they should be okay.

Again, removing bus lanes doesn't sound good - anyone have any idea whether the bits of lane in question are useful - or simply short sections that serve little purpose in truly speeding bus journeys (at peak times).

buses are left fighting for space with general traffic on road layouts that are sub-optimal for bus operation

Only one thing for it then. Follow the transport hierarchy!

BUS GATE!

"Leith resident Robert Drysdale has compiled a map showing the alternative route."

Amused by the guy providing the council with a map of their own Quiet Route 10 as an alternative. I'm sure they'd forgotten about it.

Plans for a walking and cycling route in Leith have come under fire because they include narrowing pavements, removing bus lanes and taking away bus stops.
