Yes i feared a last minute Pogacar. Pile. On but we were too far ahead of the obvious to lose. Pog did make the Montmartre climbs viable. And as with every stage it was interesting [just not for first and second]

we thought one of the teams that had Pogacar (such as a certain Mr Hume) would triumph in the end.

Ha,, or 206 points.

I never take victory in VeloGames for granted until the final weird calculation. But thought I was safe this year as none of the top 3 had Pog and I had Wout winning the stage and the 2nd 3d and 4th place and Green. But all hail King Zog

Today’s stage is hard. No change there. Although the route between Albertville and La Plagne, the last proper mountain stage of this year’s Tour, has been shortened at the last minute due to an outbreak of disease among cattle in the local area.

https://www.teampicnicpostnl.com/the-flying-scotsmen-oscar-onley-and-sean-flynn-take-on-tour-de-france/

"When posed the question of what it’s like to be only the seventh and eighth riders from their country to compete at the Tour, but to now be part of a surge in riders at different levels of the sport competing across Europe, both Sean and Oscar were quick to point to one beneficial influence at the start of it.

“I think Scottish Cycling played a big part in that. They were really fundamental for myself, and I guess also for Sean too, in the pathway that they provided when we were youth and junior riders,” says Oscar.

Sean agrees: “I think the support and organisation that they had was great. All of the initiatives they have in place and the effort they put into creating a development structure that really helps a lot too now in more guys coming through the ranks.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised in a few years if it’s not just two but three, or four, or five Scottish riders up there. I’m obviously biased but I think we carry ourselves in a certain sort of way and the values that we have, such as hard work, grit and determination, that helps us to do well.”

More Scots in the WorldTour, but also further afield too, wouldn’t surprise Oscar either: “I think in the next couple of years we’re going to see more and more riders, not just in road cycling but also on the track and mountain biking. I think we’re getting a bit of a snowball effect.”
